The Haulfre Gardens area of Llandudno is situated well away from any known or obvious mining area of the Great Orme. We had known about a possible trial entrance high up in the gardens for years.
Due to a accident, when a child had fallen down an internal shaft, the council had bricked up the entrance years before.
We decided that the entrance should be re-opened for the purpose of recording the details of this trial. Therefore in 2002 we regained entry, surveyed the workings, took the photographs and resealed it.
